What is a Database?

A Database is a collection of articles, book chapters and other information from reliable sources.

Select one of the databases listed in the middle column to begin your research.

Resources in these databases come from magazines, newspapers, journals,  books and educational videos. Although they are delivered through the Internet, they are not considered "Internet Sources" by your professors. 

Articles from the databases may be printed, saved to a drive or emailed for later use.

Newspaper Databases

  • Custom Newspapers
    A collection of over 300 newspapers, both national and international.
  • Lexis Nexis Academic
    Access over 10,000 news, business, and legal sources.
  • National Newspapers Premier
    Local, regional and national news coverage.
  • New York State Newspapers
    A customized selection of newspapers from New York State.
  • Newspaper Source Plus
    Includes more than 860 full-text newspapers, providing more than 35 million full-text articles. The database contains comprehensive full text for major newspapers.
  • ProQuest Newspaper Package
    Search 5 newpaper databases at once. Included are Black Newspapers, National Newspapers Premier, New York Times, Historical New York Times, and Wall Street Journal.

General Databases: A Good Place to Start

These are our biggest databases. They contain lots of information on a wide-range of topics and contain a wide-range of article types from many diferent types of publications.
